The Greater Cincinnati area is well positioned to be a leader in the biomedical research industry.

Cincinnati ranks in the top third of U.S. cities for funding from the National Institutes of Health.  Ohio ranks third in the region for biomedical venture funding. 

The Blue Ash suburb in Cincinnati is home to Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc. (EES), a Johnson & Johnson company, that develops and markets advanced medical devices for minimally invasive and open surgical procedures. The Endo-Surgery Institute (ESI) is a world renowned educational facility that offers courses, online and through distance learning to physicians around the world.  Blue Ash has developed the Blue Ash Life Sciences Collaborative to harness its life sciences expertise with its other pharmaceutical and clincial trial companies located in the area. 

University of Cincinnati’s Medical Center is nationally ranked among the top 25 academic research centers, with top 10 programs in Molecular Genetics, Environmental Health, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics and received over $350 million for research in 2008.

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center recently tripled the size of it’s research facility and ranks third nationwide in funding for pediatric centers.
