The longer life expectancy that many Americans now enjoy is pushing a number of issues in health care to the forefront in Cincinnati, as well as nationally. Managing increasing demands for care, rising pharmaceutical costs, acquisition of new technologies,and the burgeoning need for health care workers are just a few of the challenges facing hospital leaders in both the short and long term.

All of these issues – and others – come with a price tag, and it is not surprising that an American Hospital Association study in August revealed that worry over reduced reimbursement was the top issue cited by hospital chief executives. (Workforce woes and liability issues followed close behind.)
