Greater Cincinnati is ranked in the top ten by Fortune magazine as a great place to live and work and the Special Millennium edition of Places Rated Almanac ranked Greater Cincinnati eleventh, placing in the top 3% of metro areas.

Cost of Living Index and the Housing index is 84.3% rating the area under the United States average of 100%. Health Care in the area ranks at 96.3%.

The
Cincinnati-Middletown, OH-KY-IN Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) is a 3 state; Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, a 13 county area with a 2004 population of 2,033,148. The MSA in the 2000 census of population ranked 24th in the nation and second in Ohio. The median age is 35, with 30.7% of the population aged 25-44.

The Tristate's population is becoming more culturally diverse with the influx of Hispanics, Asians, and other ethnic groups. The increasing diversity of the area's population is continuing as demonstrated in the 2003 U.S. Census update.

The Tristate area's percentage of foreign-born residents is growing substantially. More than half of the 51,000 foreign-born population in the area arrived since 1990. A growing influx of Hispanics are settling in Cincinnati neighborhoods such as Over-the-Rhine, Lower Price Hill, Norwood, West Chester and Hamilton.

African Americans make up 11.7% of the population with the Asian & Pacific Island population at 1.2% and other ethnic origins making up 1.8%
